Promotion of the dragonfly research within the celebration of Hutovo blato Nature Park day
In the period from 22. to 27.05.2014. in the framework of the celebration of Hutovo blato Nature Park day, the members of the BIO.LOG Society together with the members of the Slovenian odonatological society conducted a field research of dragonflies in Hutovo blato. The research that is carried out in cooperation with Hutovo Nature Park is part of a project funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF). The aim of research carried out during the months of May and June is the identification of habitats of endangered dragonfly species, primarily the identification of habitat and population size of Lindenia tetraphylla (Vander Linden, 1825), an endangered species for which Hutovo blato is the only known habitat in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the first part of the research we observed a total of 28 dragonfly species and using boats for the first time we carried out a survey in the interior of the wetland complex Deransko Lake and Svitavsko accumulation. In addition, we collected interesting information about other endangered species, including molluscs, butterflies, amphibians and reptiles that inhabit this most important wetland complex in BiH.
Over the weekend, several biology students from the Džemal Bijedić university from Mostar joined us. With great interest they helped in the survey of dragonflies and butterflies in the park.
